Welcome to the oldest Golf Club in the world

Welcome

Welcome to The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh.

With more than 280 years of history behind us, The Royal Burgess is widely recognised as the oldest Golf Club in the world and is one of the finest golf clubs in Scotland. Located in the beautiful Scottish capital city of Edinburgh, just five miles from the centre, our championship golf course, designed by the legendary Willie Park Jr, is an excellent example of parkland golf, featuring lush, tree-lined fairways, cleverly positioned bunkers and smooth greens. It truly is a joy to play and we encourage golfers of all standards to share in the delight that is 18 holes at The Royal Burgess.

Our clubhouse, recently refurbished to an exemplary high standard, is an architectural ‘Arts and Crafts’ gem and displays some of the most fascinating and historic golfing memorabilia and trophies. It’s also the perfect place to unwind while sipping a contemplative drink or settling down to a delicious meal with friends. Whether you are a member, guest or visitor our superb team will be here to provide a friendly welcome and professional service.

Please enjoy the Royal Burgess.
